Letters to the Editor Project – Stop Gun Violence


Tell your story: 

Any exposure you’ve had to gun violence

How you can’t forget the Newtown Massacre

How you want to protect your children/family

How you’ve had enough

How surrounding counties have the ordinances closing the gun show loophole

Write following these tips:

Keep it short

Make your point quickly

Use facts and emotion

Talk about stopping gun violence/massacres

Refer to the articles on how to talk about guns at (BPICampus.com)

Suggest an action: 

Urge Bilirakis. Rubio & Nelson to support the large capacity gun magazine ban, assault weapons ban, and universal background checks (Biden Task Force Recommendations)

demand Pasco County Commissioners close the Gun Show Loophole so criminals and the mentally ill lose easy access to purchasing guns

Letters to the Editor Project – Affordable Care Act (ACA)


Tell your story: 

How you were in the donut hole and the law helps you afford your prescription

How your child didn’t have health coverage and can stay on your policy

How a pre-existing condition means you can finally find coverage when this kicks in

How insurance companies won’t be able to charge you more because you’re a woman

How the law stopped your insurance company from dropping you when you became ill

How lifetime limits would have cut off insurance payments, making care unaffordable 

How the Medicaid expansion would allow you to obtain insurance

Write following these tips:

Keep it short

Tie it to a recent event (Supreme Court ruling – Governor Scott’s refusal to implement)

Make your point quickly

Use facts  - http://www.healthcare.gov/

Suggest an action: 

--urge Gus Bilirakis or Richard Nugent to support the law

--demand Governor Scott implement exchanges and expand Medicaid for the uninsured
