MacDonald was a fairly accomplished amateur photographer.  As a result of looking at some 25,000 photos and slides in the Collection I can say that although many of the “record” shots taken on various trips, both here and abroad, are not memorable (most of us have taken that type) he did spend more time on nature shots, especially around Piseco Lake.  And the results were quite good, I think. Bear in mind that these are scans of slides taken 20 to 50 years ago.
